Boot Hill - Ogallala Nebraska

Now I don't believe a historical marker is that unusual, but the knowledge you gain from just a few short paragraphs is sometimes quite unexpected.  For more on historical markers in Nebraska and what the texts say visit the Nebraska Historical society Site, makes some interesting reading. 

Ok, so maybe not so unexpected is a guy with a name like 'Rattlesnake Ed' and him gettin' shot over a 9 dollar bet.

 

 

 

Still trying  to figure out why the iron cage around the cowboy sculpture...?  To protect him from the other cowboys?

 

 

 

Note to self:  Next time get some pictures of the actual inscriptions on the wood headstones...stupid, stupid, stupid.  See below matrix for sites put together by people that were not so stupid...
