Merritt Reservoir

Located 20-30 miles southwest of Valentine, NE, this lake is a gem in the sandhills. More photos to follow...

The Lone Cloud

The Lone Cloud

Is quite proud

To be alone

It floats over the thing the farmers have grown

‘I’m The Lone Cloud’ it does say

And to see it you just have to drive a ways

It floats way above the trees

The people and the bees

I think it is a show-off

Whether it is healthy or with a cough

It’s proud to be alone up there

Floating without a care

I hate that lone cloud

So very haughty and proud

Thunderheads building to the North, but already past the reservoir.  Thunderstorms pop up quite often at all times of the day or night.  Just remember to tie down your gear if you leave for a couple of hours.

This day just a single boat on the lake.

Lots and lots of beach area makes for lots and lots of sand.  Perfect for sand castles and other kids adventures.

Here Lies My Castle of Sand

Here lies my castle of sand

In this far and distant land

It was destroyed little by little

For it was very brittle

It once was beautiful and big

But now it’s grave I have to dig

When mom accidentally steeped on it

She said not to have a fit
